International Engagement: Developing Impactful International Partnerships

This program, when attended in its entirety, offers 1.0 APA CEs for Psychologists, and 1.0 BBS California CEUs for LPCCs, LPSW, and LMFTs

International engagement provides faculty vital professional development experiences and promotes the opportunity for mutually beneficial scholarly exchanges. Through international engagement, faculty can gain valuable experiences that help shape their professional endeavors and identifies and allow for personal growth. These partnerships allow for academic progress and the cultivation of knowledge, global mindedness, and the acquisition of cultural competence and humility.

Due to the importance of international engagement, this webinar will provide an overview of an international partnership that was developed with community leaders, primary and secondary educators, and university faculty located in South Africa. Particularly, this webinar session will provide an overview of how these partnerships were developed and the activities that have been conducted in South African school settings. The facilitators will also share their personal experiences of completing international work, and how their international engagement activities have evolved throughout these partnerships.

Presented by: Kelly Torres, Ph.D. in Educational Psychology, EPT Online Department Chair @The Chicago School of Professional Psychology

Kelly Torres, PhD, is the Department Chair of the Educational Psychology and Technology online program at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. She has taught numerous university-level courses in both online and face-to-face settings in content areas such as educational psychology, foundations of education, assessment, curriculum development, linguistics, and culture. Her research interests are focused on the implementation of technology into international and domestic educational settings in order to enhance student academic outcomes and on various aspects of the motivational influences that may impact second language learning and culture. She has experience facilitating and coordinating international activities in South Africa and has most recently helped to develop international partnerships with universities located in Botswana and Abu Dhabi.
Lord Giddie; PsyD in Business Psychology Associate Director, Learning Experience Design @TCS Education System
Lord Giddie, PsyD, is an Associate Director for Learning Experience Design at TCS Education System (TCS). He collaborates with academic leaders, subject matter experts, and instructors to find creative, innovative, and effective learning solutions to help design and deliver rich and engaging content for students across TCS affiliate colleges and universities. Giddie is also an Associate (adjunct) Professor at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology (TCSPP). He has been instrumental in supervising and guiding doctoral students during the completion of their dissertation research. His students have conducted applied research all over the world including Japan, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Kenya, Israel, India, Peru, and the Caribbean. Dr. Giddie has experience leading international field experience and study abroad programs to several countries including São Paulo, Brazil; Lima, Peru; Hong Kong; and Pietermaritzburg, South Africa.
