The focus of this presentation the role Prescribing Psychologists can serve a role in addressing underserved areas, specifically rural Native American communities. We will explore how Prescribing Psychologists can help mitigate health disparities by addressing limited access to routine mental health care in Native American communities.

Too often, Native Americans are placed on a mental health medications by prescribers either who do not specialize in mental health, or are booked out many months, or are a long drive away. Therefore, these individuals can feel they have insufficient support in this area of their treatment plan. Prescribing psychologists can serve a role in addressing this, helping people feel less alone regarding their mental health medication.
