This training will discuss vicarious trauma, compassion fatigue, and moral distress that can arise in the helping field. When individuals don’t intentionally care for themselves, it can lead to burnout, premature department from an organization, etc.
Participants will learn strategies to increase their self-care to be more resilient and compassionate. It’s essential for those of us in the helping profession to prioritize our overall well-being so we can model it to the youth and families we work with.
After participating in this introductory level program, participants will be able to
1. Participants will be able to identify at least 1 sign of vicarious trauma.
2. Participants will be able to identify at least 1 aspect of burnout.
3. Participants will be able to create a plan of intentional self-care
4. Participants will be able to identify at least 1 component of self-compassion
GOAL 1: Program is relevant to psychological practice, education, and/or science.
STANDARD 1.2: Program content focuses on ethical, legal, statutory or regulatory policies, guidelines, and standards that influence psychological practice, education, or research.

The Chicago School of Professional Psychology is approved by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) to offer continuing education programming for MFTs, LPCCs, LEPs, and/or LCSWs. National Board This program, when attended in its entirety, is available for 4.0 NBCC Clock Hours. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. The Chicago School of Professional Psychology is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.
ISBE. This program, when attended in its entirety, is available for 4.0 hours of continuing professional development. The Chicago School of Professional Psychology is an approved provider for continuing professional development by the Illinois State Board of Education.
School Psychologists. This program, when attended in its entirety, is available for 4.0 hours of continuing professional development. The Chicago School of Professional Psychology’s School Psychology Program is approved by the National Association of School Psychologists to offer continuing professional development. The Chicago School of Professional Psychology maintains responsibility for this continuing professional development activity.
Participation Certificate. The Chicago School of Professional Psychology is able to provide students and other participants who simply wish to have documentation of their attendance at the program a participation certificate.
Non Psychologists. Most licensing boards accept Continuing Education Credits sponsored by the American Psychological Association but non-psychologists are recommended to consult with their specific state-licensing board to ensure that APA-sponsored CE is acceptable. Nicole Klasey, PsyD, Consulting Psychologist
Nicole Klasey is a clinical psychologist who consults with agencies on trauma-informed care, programming for commercially sexually exploited children (CSEC), culturally responsive services, vicarious trauma, and leadership development through Klasey Consulting LLC. Nicole has been training multidisciplinary audiences on trauma-related topics since 2015 and has taught graduate level psychology courses. She authored a commercial sexual
exploitation intervention and prevention curriculum. Her work has been recognized by Los Angeles County leaders and she has been awarded the State of California Senate Certificate of Recognition by Senator Joel Anderson.
