This program will explore the use of creative/expressive interventions during the supervision process to foster wellness and resiliency. Participants will gain knowledge in the developmental level of supervisees and the importance of integrating wellness through the use of creative/expressive interventions.
The supervision process is integral to the growth and development of counselors and ensuring our supervisees maintain mental health wellness throughout this process is imperative. Participants will have the opportunity to be learn how to integrate specific expressive/creative interventions into the supervision process.

After attending this intermediate-level program, participants will be able to:
- Recognize the developmental levels of supervisees and how to integrate creative and expressive interventions into the supervision process.
- Facilitate their own creative/expressive interventions related to overall wellness and positive mental health during the supervision process.
- Recognize how to assist with the concepts of resiliency and wellness during the supervision process.
This program meets APA’s continuing education STANDARD 1.3: Program content focuses on topics related to psychological practice, education, or research other than application of psychological assessment and/or intervention methods that are supported by contemporary scholarship grounded in established research procedures.

Laura Fazio-Griffith, Ph.D.
Dr. Fazio-Griffith received her PhD from the University of New Orleans in Counselor Education. She is a national certified counselor, licensed professional counselor supervisor, a licensed marriage and family therapist, and a registered play therapist supervisor. Dr. Fazio-Griffith was the clinical director for the Counseling and Training Center of Families Helping Families of Greater New Orleans for approximately 5 years. She provided individual, group, and family counseling as well as supervision for master’s level counseling interns. She has been an adjunct assistant professor at UNO, Southeastern, and LSU. She joined our faculty in August of 2010 after completing two years as a visiting assistant professor at LSU. She served as the president of LACES from 2004-06 and was the Counselor Education representative on the LACES board until July 2011. She served as treasurer on the Louisiana Association for Play Therapy Executive Board and is Past-President of the Louisiana Association for Play Therapy, add currently serves as the conference speaker coordinator committee chair, She is the Chair for the International Association for Play Therapy Ethics and practice committee, ad a member of the University Education Committee, the Registration and Credentialing Committee, Nominations and Elections Committee as well as the task force to develop a history of play therapy for APT. She has served as president for the Louisiana Association for Career Development and also serves on five national editorial boards. She served on the American Counseling Association Branch Development Committee, and was selected as a mentor for the ACA Mentorship Program. She has developed the play therapy program and the counseling program is an approved provider from the Association for Play Therapy for continuing play therapy education. She has presented nationally and statewide on various topics related to supervision, play therapy, and group work. Her research interests include group work, personality disorders, supervision, and play therapy. Dr. Fazio-Griffith was honored by the Louisiana Association for Counselor Education and Supervision as the Senior Counselor Educator of the year at the 2016 LCA Conference, the award for Distinguished Professional Service, 2018 for the Louisiana Counseling Association, and the Senior Supervisor Award by the Louisiana Association for Counselor Education and Supervision at the 2019 LCA Conference, and the Play Therapist of the Year: Lifetime Achievement by the Louisiana Association for Play Therapy in 2020. Dr. Fazio-Griffith was appointed to the LPC Board by the Governor effective September 1, 2018. Dr. Fazio-Griffith is the faculty advisor for the counseling programs Chi Sigma Iota chapter. She is the recipient of the Nell Yarborough Sibley Endowed Professorship in Human Sciences for 2020-23 and the 2022 recipient of the Southeastern Louisiana University President’s Award for Excellence in Faculty Service.
June Williams, Ph.D., M.Ed.
Previously a high school English teacher, Dr. Williams received her M.Ed. and Ph.D. in Counselor Education from the University of New Orleans. All of her counseling experience has been in college counseling including serving as an academic and career counselor, assistant director of the University Counseling Center, and assistant dean of Student Life. From 2009-2013 she served as Interim Department Head of the Department of Health and Human Sciences. She has held several professional leadership positions at the state and national
level including president of Chi Sigma Iota, International Counseling Honor Society, the Louisiana Counseling Association, the American College Counseling Association, and the Louisiana College Counseling Association. She also served for eight years on the Louisiana Licensed Professional Counselors Board of Examiners. She received the first annual Outstanding Doctoral Alumnus Award from UNO, and her dissertation was awarded the Outstanding Dissertation Award by the Association of Counselor Education and Supervision. She has presented on a variety of topics at the state and national level, and her research interests include gratitude, resilience and grief and loss.
Mallorie Davis and Jonathan Covel
Mallorie and Jonathan are counseling students currently in their second semester of internship.
Target Audience: Mental health professionals, educators, and students.
Psychologists. This program, when attended in its entirety, is available for 1.0 continuing education credits. The Chicago School of Professional Psychology is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. MFTs, LPCCs, and LCSWs: Course meets the qualifications for 1.0 hours of continuing education credit for MFTs, LPCCs, and/or LCSWs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. If you are licensed outside of California please check with your local licensing agency to to determine if they will accept these CEUs. The Chicago School of Professional Psychology is approved by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) to offer continuing education programming for MFTs, LPCCs, LEPs, and/or LCSWs. The Chicago School of Professional Psychology is an accredited or approved postsecondary institution that meets the requirements set forth in Sections 4980.54(f)(1), 4989.34, 4996.22(d)(1), or 4999.76(d) of the Code.
Participation Certificate. The Chicago School of Professional Psychology is able to provide students and other participants who simply wish to have documentation of their attendance at the program a participation certificate.
Non Psychologists. Most licensing boards accept Continuing Education Credits sponsored by the American Psychological Association but non-psychologists are recommended to consult with their specific state-licensing board to ensure that APA-sponsored CE is acceptable.
