The State of Illinois is implementing gender-affirming care to transgender people who are incarcerated in the Illinois Department of Corrections. We are proud that our Governor is demonstrating the importance of this care to our transgender citizens by supporting the pioneering work of outstanding healthcare professionals, featured in our symposium.
In this symposium, we will be honoring our healthcare professionals for their excellence and ground-breaking contributions that they make in providing equitable care to all members of our society.

- Describe the specific roles that clinical psychologists, prescribing psychologists, and psychiatrists play in providing optimal transgender healthcare to transgender folks who are incarcerated.

Target Audience: All psychologists, psychiatrists and other mental health providers who have an interest in and/or who work with Corrections and/or populations with gender diversity. All professionals who are connected to The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. All members of the LGBTQ+ community.
Psychologists. This program, when attended in its entirety, is available for 2.0 continuing education credits. The Chicago School of Professional Psychology is committed to accessibility and non-discrimination in its continuing education activities. The Chicago School of Professional Psychology is also committed to conducting all activities in conformity with the American Psychological Association’s Ethical Principles for Psychologists. Participants are asked to be aware of the need for privacy and confidentiality throughout the program. If program content becomes stressful, participants are encouraged to process these feelings during discussion periods. If participants have special needs, we will attempt to accommodate them.
Participation Certificate. The Chicago School of Professional Psychology is able to provide students and other participants who simply wish to have documentation of their attendance at the program a participation certificate.
Non-Psychologists. Most licensing boards accept Continuing Education Credits sponsored by the American Psychological Association but non-psychologists are recommended to consult with their specific state-licensing board to ensure that APA-sponsored CE is acceptable.
