Women and Drinking

January 27, 2022 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm CST

The first part of the program will look at the trends in alcohol use amongst women and will discuss the recent rise in these trends amidst COVID-19. This will also explore the shift culturally towards a “mommy wine culture” and how this has normalized problematic drinking behaviors amongst women. There will then be a discussion of how to address this from a psychological perspective and how to present tools for being mindful about drinking, being honest about the consequences, and how to have frank conversations about problematic drinking behavior.

The second part of the program will look at screening tools that can be helpful in both medical and therapy settings. It will also examine the medical consequences of drinking for women and discuss how these consequences differ based on gender.

This program, when attended in full, offers 1.0 CE credits for Psychologists, or 1.0 BBS California CEUs for Licensed Counselors, Social Workers or Marriage and Family Therapists,
