Postpartum blues are so common that they are part of the normal reaction to childbearing. Postpartum Depression, however, results in distress and impairment in function that can linger well into the first postnatal year if not treated. This interactive roundtable will provide a framework of the epidemiology and risk factors of Postpartum Depression while utilizing film portrayals to analyze clinical features. Through the depiction of Postpartum Depression in the media, we hope to break down stereotypes and stigma and provide guidance on how best to treat the disorder from a culturally competent perspective.
