The DSM–5–TR serves as the federal government’s official manual for the diagnosing of mental disorders. The literature presented with the text provides practicing clinicians with research, current codes, and criteria for diagnosing mental disorders and other conditions. This program will provide a review of the chapters, cover changes from the DSM to the DSM-TR, and offer a refresher for the practicing clinician.
This session will review the Personality Disorders diagnoses in the DSM-5-TR. Descriptions of diagnostic criteria will be reviewed. Differential diagnoses and comorbid disorders will be discussed in detail.

After attending this intermediate-level program, participants will be able to:
- Increase knowledge of application of DSM-5-TR Personality Disorder diagnosis in practice.
- Become familiar with Personality Disorder criteria.
- Become familiar with differential diagnosis as it relates to personality disorders

Michelle Malters Psy.D.
Michelle Malters Psy.D. is currently the Associate Director of the Office of Placement & Training, MA Forensic Psychology, Online Campus at The Chicago School. Dr. Malters is a licensed clinical psychologist in Illinois. She earned her Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology, Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology and Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology-Specialization in Forensic Psychology at Adler University. Dr. Malters joined The Chicago School’s Office of Placement and Training in 2018 where she has held multiple roles related to training and teaching. Dr. Malters is highly passionate about training and working with students. Dr. Malters’ areas of specialty include forensic psychology and working with the LGBTQIA+ community. Dr. Malters currently maintains a small private practice that is focused on the LGBTQIA community.
Target Audience: Psychologists, Counselors, Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists, and School Psychologists.
Psychologists. This program, when attended in its entirety, is available for 2.0 continuing education credits. The Chicago School of Professional Psychology is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. The Chicago School of Professional Psychology maintains responsibility for this program and its content. MFTs, LPCCs, and LCSWs: Course meets the qualifications for 2.0 hours of continuing education credit for MFTs, LPCCs, and/or LCSWs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. If you are licensed outside of California please check with your local licensing agency to to determine if they will accept these CEUs. The Chicago School of Professional Psychology is approved by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) to offer continuing education programming for MFTs, LPCCs, LEPs, and/or LCSWs. The Chicago School of Professional Psychology is an accredited or approved postsecondary institution that meets the requirements set forth in Sections 4980.54(f)(1), 4989.34, 4996.22(d)(1), or 4999.76(d) of the Code.
School Psychologists. This program, when attended in its entirety, is available for 2.0 hours of continuing professional development. The Chicago School of Professional Psychology’s School Psychology Program is approved by the National Association of School Psychologists to offer continuing professional development. The Chicago School of Professional Psychology maintains responsibility for this continuing professional development activity.
Non Psychologists. Most licensing boards accept Continuing Education Credits sponsored by the American Psychological Association but non-psychologists are recommended to consult with their specific state-licensing board to ensure that APA-sponsored CE is acceptable.
