Prolonged grief disorder from an ethical and cultural perspective
$15.00
Presented by June Williams, Ph.D., Laura Fazio-Griffith, Ph.D., Andrew Pullman, and Kirsten Saint
Recorded on Thursday, October 24, 2024
Access provided upon registration on “My Courses” page
The recent inclusion of prolonged grief disorder (PGD) in the DSM-5 TR has stirred a great deal of controversy. Many counselors, however, are likely unaware of the controversy or perhaps even of the diagnosis. Understanding the context of the inclusion of this diagnosis in the DSM and the arguments for and against inclusion are important as counselors are faced with deciding whether or not to diagnose PGD.
The focus of this session is to provide participants with an overview of some of the ethical and cultural concerns related to a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder. The presenters will provide vignettes to highlight some of the cultural and ethical complexities of prolonged grief disorder.
This program, when attended in its entirety, offers 1.0 APA CEs for Psychologists, 1.0 IL CEUS for Counselors and Social Workers, or 1.0 BBS California CEUs for LPCCs, LPSW, and LMFTs.
