Despite Ketamine being a widely used dissociative anesthetic for years, it is only recently that psychologists are able to utilize ketamine for the treatment of treatment resistant depression, PTSD, depression, anxiety, addictions, and as an augment to psychotherapy. In this presentation we will provide psychoeducation on what ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP) is, how it works on the brain, who is an ideal candidate for it, and how we provide this service in a private practice setting.

We will present a case study of a client undergoing KAP as a means of exploring the potential benefits, and also helping clinicians to understand how the assisted therapy helps clients tap into the subconscious/unconscious and bring this to the conscious level to be able to processed in KAP and integration sessions. The case study demonstrates how augmenting psychotherapy with ketamine assistance is an excellent treatment options for clients who are hitting emotional walls and/or getting “stuck” in psychotherapy.

This program, when attended in its entirety, offers 1.0 APA CEs for Psychologists, 1.0 IL CEUS for Counselors and Social Workers, or 1.0 BBS California CEUs for LPCCs, LPSW, and LMFTs.
