CONNECTED PSYCHOLOGY’s DIR Framework Servicing Undeserved Populations

October 9, 2020 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am CDT

Roundtable Discussion

Hannah Salanoa-Ogbechie, Psy.D.

CONNECTED PSYCHOLOGY

CONNECTED PSYCHOLOGY’s roundtable discussion will focus on the training philosophy of our program which focuses heavily on the structural psychological development, not only of our client’s but of our clinician’s and as an agency. We service inner city children and adolescents from a developmental perspective that is synthetic, trans-theoretical, and universally applicable to children and families of all ages across geography, ethnicity, and socio-economic status. In order to achieve this concept, we must first become self-aware. The perspective we come from starts with our clinician’s. Gnosis means “direct knowing.” One cannot learn about themselves from reading a textbook. Self-awareness is a science of direct knowing. As psychologists, we must learn to empirically observe ourselves, and therefore, come to “Know Thyself” directly. We service client’s with extensive, intergenerational trauma that requires the foundation of a trusting relationship before work can be done to accept life’s challenging experiences in a way that help our client’s to function at a developmentally appropriate level in society. The fundamental importance of working with the client’s we serve starts with the therapeutic frame, focusing on developing (D) individuals (I) in relationship (R) to others.
