Presented By:  Dr. Christin Smith

*Session hosted via Zoom

When evaluating youth for various offenses, things can become more complicated than the standard clinical psychological evaluation. For example, what are the most appropriate assessment measures and questions to ask when assessing these juveniles? Who is responsible for performing each task or the full evaluation? What does the evaluation aim to prove? The process and role(s) of the professional(s) involved in the evaluation procedure will be discussed and explored. Various case laws and evaluation measures will be brought up for discussion, specifically as they relate to the Kent v. US standards.

Dr. Smith received her Master of Science and Doctor of Psychology degrees in Clinical Psychology with a focus on Forensics from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in Washington, D.C. Dr. Smith is a licensed psychologist in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Texas. She currently works as a clinical psychologist for the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice, where her focus is on court ordered evaluations.
