Workshop Description:
Though well-intended, implicit bias trainings and multicultural sensitivity workshops are not sufficient to affect meaningful change. Instead, the meaningful change necessary to achieve more culturally sensitive worldviews is more likely to be achieved through a combination of education, internal motivation, and experiential practices that address the experiences of pain, oppression, and discrimination felt by historically marginalized groups.
The following two-hour live webinar provides an introduction to healing centered engagement. Healing centered engagement is a socially just, strength based, and culturally responsive framework that seeks to enhance empathy and personal investment in change while centering culture as a central component in wellbeing. Consistent with this framework, the following training will outline culturally responsive strategies that promote collective healing, enhance ethnic identity, and cultivate resilience.
Learning Objectives:
After attending this introductory-level workshop, participants will be able to:
A. Describe the importance of healing centered engagement as culturally responsive and strength based approach to wellbeing.
B. Utilize at least three specific culturally specific strategies to promote collective healing, and/or enhance ethnic identity, and/or cultivate resilience.

In-Person Workshop
Workshop Description:
These workshops (offering the same content to two distinct attendee groups) builds upon the content provided in Part 1 on March 8th, 2023,which provides an introduction to healing centered engagement. This socially just, strength-based, and culturally responsive framework seeks to enhance empathy and personal investment in change while centering culture as a central component in wellbeing.
Each of the 90-minute in-person workshops will provide attendees (i.e., students and mental health professionals) with opportunities to meaningfully engage with the information learned from the first part of the workshop series. Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in experiential activities, healing circles, and group activities designed to enhance culturally sensitive worldviews, promote collective healing, enhance ethnic identity, cultivate resilience, and decolonize mental health perspectives.

After attending this introductory-level workshop, participants will be able to:
- use interpersonal practices that apply healing centered engagement and strength-based approaches to wellbeing.
- use intrapersonal practices that apply healing centered engagement and strength-based approaches to wellbeing.

This program meets APA’s continuing education standard 1.3: Program content focuses on topics related to psychological practice, education, or research other than application of psychological assessment and/or intervention methods that are supported by contemporary scholarship grounded in established research procedure
This program meets APA’s continuing education goal 3: Program will allow psychologists to maintain, develop, and increase competencies in order to improve services to the public and enhance contributions to the profession.

Social Workers. This program, when attended in its entirety, is available for 2.0 hours of continuing education. MFTs, LPCCs, and LCSWs. Course meets the qualifications for 2.0 hour of continuing education credit for MFTs, LPCCs, and/or LCSWs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. If you are licensed outside of California please check with your local licensing agency to to determine if they will accept these CEUs. The Chicago School of Professional Psychology is approved by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) to offer continuing education programming for MFTs, LPCCs, LEPs, and/or LCSWs. The Chicago School of Professional Psychology is an accredited or approved postsecondary institution that meets the requirements set forth in Sections 4980.54(f)(1), 4989.34, 4996.22(d)(1), or 4999.76(d) of the Code.
Participation Certificate. The Chicago School of Professional Psychology is able to provide students and other participants who simply wish to have documentation of their attendance at the program a participation certificate.
Non Psychologists. Most licensing boards accept Continuing Education Credits sponsored by the American Psychological Association but non-psychologists are recommended to consult with their specific state-licensing board to ensure that APA-sponsored CE is acceptable.
