Kati Tshikalu-John
Kati has an affinity for seeing the joy in people when they make connections in whatever they’re seeking answers to. She appreciates a good sense of humor and speak sarcasm fluently. The Democratic Republic of the Congo is he birth home, New York City raised her, and now, as a military family traveling all over the USA, Colorado is where they are building their new community. Kati is Congolese-American, a term she learned as an adult that she is still learning to identify with. She has two incredible daughters who teach her daily what freedom and free spirits look like. Through their world, she is constantly evolving and learning.
As a Congolese American immigrant, her lived experience in the United States has fueled her passion for developing safe spaces and facilitating conversations about equity and belonging. During her career she worked in various positions in human resources in for-profit, non-profit, and government spaces. She stepped away from the workspace to be a stay-at-home mom, and now she is back on the journey of creating spaces where people feel seen, heard, and have a sense of belonging.
Kati holds a bachelor’s in management and a master’s in organizational leadership. She greatly appreciate creating spaces of belonging and difficult conversations with diverse perspectives. The goal is not to get it right; it is to make mistakes and adjust; that is the process of humanness. She is a student of cultural understanding, its intersections with identities, and how that can help build community. On this journey, Kati welcomes diverse perspectives where she can bring values and vision to fruition among like-minded souls.
