Presented by Jose Rios, BCBA, CalABA President
Thursday, April 13, 2023
4:30pm-6:10pm PDT/ 6:30pm- 8:10pm CDT/ 7:30pm-9:10pm EDT
When attended in full, this program offers 2.0 BACB Ethics CEUs for Board Certified Behavior Analysts
Workshop Description:
Jose Rios’s forays into ABA came in the 70s and, while never facing overt hostility in the field, he has been targeted with many micro-aggressions over the many decades. This program will elaborate on the topic of micro-aggressions and how historically marginalized groups have been affected by them. Additionally, the program will conclude with recommendations on how to address both overt and covert hostility in the professional arena and how, after 50 years, Jose Rios managed to survive in ABA.
In this presentation, the presenter will discuss experiences of overt hostility in the field. He will also discuss strategies to address such challenges and how those strategies foster a “culture of giving” in ABA.
Learning Objectives:
1.Participants will be able to define ‘micro-aggressions’.
3.Participants will be able to list at least three barriers to ABA services experienced by marginalized groups.
Continuing Education:
Synchronous, 100 minutes= 2.0 BACB Ethics CEUs (e.g., 1.07, 1.08, 1.09, 1.10, 2.19)
